Amro Salah

Amro Salah is a distinguished Egyptian pianist, composer, music producer, tutor, and cultural director whose artistry and passion have left an indelible mark on the global music scene.

A trailblazer in jazz and world music, Amro founded the acclaimed World Jazz Fusion group Eftekasat in 2002, producing three albums and captivating audiences at international festivals. His composition “Rainbows” earned the Grand Prix at the Cairo International Song Festival in 2000, with further accolades from Cavan Song Festival, Amnesty International, Billboard Magazine, and Unisong solidifying his reputation as an award-winning composer.

In 2009, Amro Salah established the Cairo International Jazz Festival and the Jazz Society of Egypt, fostering a thriving jazz culture in his homeland. He also produces Egypt’s annual International Jazz Day and has served on the jury panels for prominent events, such as Jazzahead (Germany), Mama Jazz (Lithuania) and the Austrian Jazz Award. As a cultural ambassador, he has represented Egypt at renowned European festivals and networks, including Jazzahead, INJAZZ, Luxembourg music meeting, PortaJazz and  Edinburgh Fringe.

A fellow of the DeVos Institute at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, USA since 2010, Amro’s expertise extends beyond performance, as he shapes cultural narratives globally. Featured in international media outlets such as BBC, CNN, and SKY, he also starred as himself in the award-winning German documentary CairoJazzman, a testament to his dedication to jazz as a cultural force.
